Now at least I can build my kit gradually. I though of buying a kit for more than 10 years but never did because I lived in small appartments. Is there a decent low budget (rubber) brand I should look for that is acceptable? Did someone make a decent DIY one? What is my alternative?Ĥ) I'd love alesis surge cymbals but I may not be able to afford them for now. What would be a budget rack to use? I've seen Roland's for about 150$ on ebay but I'm in Canada and shipping would be $$$. I read somewhere that 35mm piezos may be too big for the IO module because they would be too sensitive so:ġ) Is that true and if so, what size should I get?Ģ) what is the benefit of mounting 2 piezos on the snare shell for rim shots instead of only one?ģ) I want to cut my shells in half to get more toms but then I would need a rack to hold them. Here are the questionsįorgive me if some of this is already covered elsewhere I did my searches but could not find all the info I need To keep my costs down I'm thinking of getting an Alesis trigger IO as the module and connect it to my laptop. I just bought a basic low quality accoustic drum which I will convert to mesh head and piezos. Now I have been wanting a drum kit forerver but could not afford a Roland so after reading on this board I decided to make my own.

I'm a beginner drummer with about 10 years of rudimental playing experience but never on a kit (I use to play snare drum in a drum corps). This is my very first thread on this board.
